IT IS GOING TO BE DIFFICULT FOR MORATA TO REPLACE DIEGO COSTA – LAMPARD

The former legend who now works as a football expert at BT Sport, said that he is sad to see Potentially former Chelsea star man; Diego Costa leave the blues this season.

Diego Costa who was an influential figure last season in helping Chelsea win the English Premier League revealed just after the season was over that Head Coach, Antonio Conte sent him a text to tell him that he is not part of his plans for the 2017/2018 season after a fall out last season.

Costa was expected to leave the blues this season with a move to Atletico Madrid almost completed up until it was revealed that the transfer ban on the Spanish Giants won’t be lifted until January, 2018.

With the imminent move of Diego Costa to another club set to happen, Antonio Conte was quick to bring in the services of another Spanish International in the person of Alvaro Morata to fill in the gap left by the former Atletico man.

Morata has since joined in from Real Madrid in a £68 Million move and Frank Lampard doesn’t see that move as an easy task for the 24 year old.

"I am a big fan of Diego Costa, I don't underrate him and I don't think any Chelsea fans do," Said Lampard.

"I think Costa was popular there because of the all-round striker he is, he is up there with the best in the world in terms of being a big target man.

"He can be a target, run the line and he can also score goals. He can be a consistent problem for any defender. He is not easy to replace, I don't think replace someone exactly in his mould but in Morata, I think they have a young player with great movement.

"He is a good finisher, he scored around 20 goals last year at Real Madrid and they will need him as their main striker this year."

Despite being unhappy with the sale of Costa, Lampard is positive that Chelsea can retain the Premier League title with enough talent remaining at the club.

Lampard also believes that Chelsea will add a few more players between now and transfer deadline day on August 31 and has a positive message for fans of the club.
