Bellerin: Arsenal is my home, I will stay here for many years

Bellerin vows to stay at Arsenal for 'many years'

Hector Bellerin has insisted that he plans to stay at Arsenal for "many years" after putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the club.

The Gunners right-back made the move to Emirates Stadium from Barcelona five years ago and has gone on to become a regular in Arsene Wenger's first team.

As reported by GoalBarca had been keen to take the Spaniard back to Camp Nou, with news of a new contract likely to come as a blow to the Catalans.

Bellerin has been rewarded for his fine form for Arsenal, having made the right-back spot his own with 44 appearances in all competitions for the club last season.

The 21-year-old, who has three full international caps for Spain, missed Saturday's draw with Manchester United due to an ankle injury but had started the previous 11 league games.

Barca had seen Bellerin as an ideal long-term replacement for Dani Alves, who left for Juventus in the summer after eight years at the club.

But the defender, in a video update posted on Facebook looking back at his five years in north London, is adamant he is remaining with the Gunners for the long-term.

In text caption accompanying the video, Bellerin wrote: "A lot has changed in 5 years since I first joined the club. This is my home. The club who gave me my first opportunity. The club I will be at for many years. #COYG"

Bellerin is expected to be out of action for around a month after suffering an ankle injury in the north London derby draw with Tottenham, following a collision with Danny Rose.

With the 21-year-old having already missed the 1-1 draw with United, he is also expected to be absent from the club's next seven matches in all competitions.

That includes Tuesday's Champions League clash with PSG, while he is likely to be sidelined for potentially tricky league fixtures against the likes of West Ham and Everton.

Arsenal will, however, be desperate to welcome Bellerin back for the huge meeting with Manchester City on December 18, with the Gunners currently two points behind Pep Guardiola's side in the table.
