2017/2018 PREVIEW: TEAMS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN THE EFL CHAMPIONSHIP

As we all know it, the football season kicks off today, 4th, August, 2017. And at soccerhubng, we’d be looking at some of the teams we should watch out for in the major leagues all around Europe.

With the start of the EFL Championship today, we take a look at the teams that should be looked out for in the league during the 2017/2018 season.

The EFL Championship (also called the Sky Bet Championship) has over the years become one of the most competitive leagues in Europe despite it being a second tier league in England. A total number of 46 matches are played between 23 teams, where each team has to fight for a spot in the English Premier League next season. Two teams get an automatic promotion if they are able to finish with the highest number of points while four other teams fight for the last spot of promotion through a “play-off system”. Likewise, three teams who are unfortunate not to perform well enough and get the lowest amount of points will have to face relegation down to a lower league.

Soccerhubng have been able to do an analysis on the 23 teams that are all going to be fighting for a place in the premier league, or those that are going to settle with surviving in the league and some who might be unfortunate to face relegation.

PROMOTION CONTENDERS
Starting from the obvious, Hull City, Middlesbrough and Sunderland have all been considered favourites to make it back to the Premier League next season but Sunderland and Hull City have done very little to show that they are indeed favourites to make the cut next season.

Middlesbrough on the other side has with them a proven coach in Garry Monk to manage the affairs of their club. Garry Monk who was responsible for lifting Leeds United up to just the tip of the top six last season at the EFL Championship, are making not just the top six but also getting an automatic qualification if things go as planned for both the club and the manager. And to prove that, they have been able to bring in the services of a club record player in Britt Assombalonga for £ 15 Million to solve their scoring problems that makes them a team to beat.

Another team to be considered as favourites is Aston Villa. They have with them a coach in Steve Bruce known to promoting teams from the Championship League to Premier League having done it in two occasions before. And their acquisition of Chelsea Legend; John Terry and an experienced Chris Samba among others shows why they will be a threat in the coming season to anyone.

Wolverhampton; expected to have made the cut last season after an impressive run on some occasions were unfortunate to have finished 15th last month. But with their partnership with super-agent; Jorges Mendes, they have acquired two players in Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota, amongst others, they are likely to form a reputation of being the most talented team the EFL Championship League have ever seen.

Last season’s semi-finalists, Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday are also considered favourites given that it’s been a stable market for both of them so far, tying their key players to sign new deals and also building on where there was lapses in the previous season. That certainly makes them a threat in the 2017/2018 season.

Leeds United will also be hopeful of promotion this season having only missed the top six barely last season. Though, they have to make do without their former manager and work with Thomas Christainsen; a replacement for Garry Monk. And the club having also a new owner, they are sure to make things happen in this coming season.
