The English Premier League moves
close to make a decision to adjust the transfer window so that transfer
deadline is set before the start of a new campaign. This is according to
reports from multiple media outlets in England.
It was reported that the decision
is to be made by clubs in the EPL in a shareholder’s
meeting that is to take place on the 7th
of September, 2017.
If votes are made in favour of
the transfer window being adjusted upwards, the resulting change would be
implemented from the start of next season i.e the 2018/2019 season, with the
current window set to close on August 31, which is three weeks after the season
opener between Arsenal and Leicester City.
The deadline would come as a
challenge for club owners and sport directors to make sure all transfer targets
for their respective clubs are acquired ahead of a new season. And with this
new development put into place, managers can be able to make appropriate plans
with the players at his disposal before the start of a new campaign.
The proposed new deadline, if
made effective, will only affect incoming transfers as The English Premier League would still be permitted to sell players
abroad.
